good times.

If you come to visit us soon, make sure you schedule an appointment with our inhouse dentist for some dental work. Dr. Gaige Johnson is especially skilled in drilling. He usually practices on himself, but has recently started accepting patients. His steady hand and expertise causes no pain, just a little bit of a tickle.

Last week I went to Disneyland with Bonnie and Paige. We had so much fun we stayed and had dinner at Downtown Disney and didn't make it home until 8:30pm. Paige is a champ for carrying around Ryker all day. She definitely deserves a medal and a one hour backrub!
We were all standing in line for Pirates and right before it was our turn to get on the boats Bentley informed me that he had to go pee pee. I was very impressed that he told me. So we walked through the boats and ran to the bathroom. When we got to the potty he just dinked around. It was then that I realized that peeing was just a ploy so that he wouldn't have to go on the ride because he thinks he is scared of it. I don't know whether I should be mad at him for the charade, or proud that he was smart enough to figure out how to get out of going on the ride. Whatta stinker.
We had a great time together and I had lots of fun with Paige and Bonnie. They are great friends and super fun to hang out with. Too bad I'm the old lady of the group!

I am so glad that my boys love the tea cups because it is one of my most favorite rides. I love seeing how much fun they have turning the wheel and hearing them shout, "Faster, faster!"

This Thursday Paige and I went to the beach. Yes, the first beach day of the year! My camera ran out of batteries, otherwise I would have many more pictures for you to see. It was sunny, not too hot, and not too cold. Nicholas, Bentley and Gaige had lots of fun playing in the sand. And Ryker looked so cute sitting under the umbrella. Gaige even showed Nicholas how to eat the sand. Nicholas didn't seem to like it as much as Gaige who was dipping his potato chips in it and scooping it up like it was chip dip! Bentley pulled the sunscreen out of my backpack and decided he needed to apply some himself. I was very impressed. Going to the beach is way easier this year than last now that both boys listen, hold my hand and I only have to carry a backpack and a bucket of toys. I am excited to start going to the beach again!

Today we went back to the beach with Daddy. It was still sunny but super windy and cold. I sat under a blanket the whole time while the boys played in the sand and ran in the water.

After the beach the boys took a bath and a nap. When I went to wake them up to go to a birthday party this is what I found. Bentley no longer sleeps in his bed for his naps, and maybe even at night. No matter how many times I take him out of Gaige's crip be climbs back in. At my parents' house we put them in different rooms to sleep and Bentley will get up and go into the room Gaige is in and climb in the Pack N Play with him. Why did we buy a bed? (And for all of you judging me that I have a 3 year old that has a binky still...he only has it at nap time and he sleeps 3 hours, so I am pretty sure you would let him have it too. Besides, when he doesn't take a nap anymore he won't ever have a binky again...I think it's pretty genious.)

more potty talk.

Bentley and Alex walked to preschool the other day holding hands. This is how their conversation went:

Bentley: I went pee pees

Alex: Oh, did you go poo poos too?

Bentley: Yes.
Alex: That's how I do it too.

They continued to talk about going potty for the next couple of minutes until I told them to find something else to talk about. Then Bentley ran away.
I signed up to do the Preschool Valentine's Day party. It was so much fun! The kids helped make some "love potion." I gave them each a single pack of Crystal Light to pour into a pitcher of water once they told us a way that they show people that they love them. The potion was very very strong, but the kids loved it and totally believed that it would help them to be nicer and more loving. It didn't work that well for Bentley, but hopefully it did for the other kids.

We also made valentine receivers. I precut out some big hearts with some scalloped scissors and punched holes along the sides so that they kids could string ribbon through. Then they made valentines for each other.

They made a valentine surprise for their mommies too. I cut out jean pockets from some old pairs of jeans along with some fabric hearts and ribbon. They glued the hearts, some buttons and some ribbon on the pockets, filled them with candy and wrapped them up to give to their mommies. They turned out really cute and they kids had lots of fun making them!

The moms joined us for some pancakes, muffins, fruit, and cupcakes at the end. The kids were very excited to give their mommies their gifts! It was a really fun party! And I didn't even have time for them do all of the stuff I planned.

We were also going to make these lollipop valentines but ran out of time. They are super cute and easy.

Happy Valentine's Day!

grandad's potty and other random things.

The other night we went to dinner with my parents to Baja Fresh. We were talking about puppies so my mom asked Bentley if he wanted one....

Grams: Bentley, don't you want a puppy some day?

Bentley: No, I want a potty like Grandad's.

He loves the variety of toilets at my parents' house. His favorite is one that you flush by pulling up on a pretty handle on the top of the toilet..."Grandad's potty."

My parents surprised us and took us to lunch the other day. Bentley asked if he could go to Grandad's house. Then he asked...

Bentley: Will you come to my house?

Grandad: Only if your mom says it's ok.

Grandads say funny things too!

At the doctor's office today he kept telling Gaige "Go get him" referring to this guy sitting on the floor of the waiting room working on a laptop. I told him to stop so then he just kept whispering it to him! He loves going to see the doctor now. He used to scream whenever the MAs came near him to take his height or weight, and when the doctor would try to look in his ears and mouth. Now he loves to go. A couple of weeks ago he told me his ear hurt...

Me: We're going to go to the doctor.
Bentley: So the doctor can give me medicine and make my ear better? Like Luke?

When we got to the doctor he told her he needed medicine to make his ear better. She commented on how talkative he was.

Today he told the doctor he took his medicine and his ear is now better. He also demonstrated for Gaige how to say "aw" and told him that it only tickles when she sticks that thing in his ear. And when she listened to Gaige's heart beat, Bentley said, "that's cold!" While Gaige cried the whole time, Bentley sat there and was overwhelmed with the excitement of it all. He is so funny. And the only time he wasn't naughty today was for the 2 minutes he saw the doctor.
