sleep.

So unexpectedly my baby sleeps very well at night. He only wakes up once or twice to eat and then goes right back to sleep until I wake him up around 8. It is really nice because Bentley wakes up super early now around 6:30 and so I have some time for him before feeding the baby. We wrap him up super tight so he can't wiggle his arms around and it seems to be working. I am still a tad tired though. Bentley hasn't been taking very long naps and I have yet to take a nap since my mom left on Tuesday. Hopefully our sleeping babe stays a sleeping babe.

Gaige is now a week old and doing the normal things a one week old kid does. He sleeps, stares, burps, pees and poops. And he is so cute while he does it all. Especially when he flashes his cute dimples. He looks just like Bentley did now. I am recovering very well this time around. I think my body knows what it's in for this time. Bentley is having a little bit of a rough time not getting my full attention. You can tell he is interested in the baby but doesn't know that he can't hit him, poke him, and climb over him yet. And he has a hard time when I feed the baby. I feel bad for the poor kid.

All in all, things are going much better than I expected. Gaige sleeps and doesn't fuss hardly at all (for now). The only tough thing has been trying to figure out the schedules so that they both don't need to eat at the same time. Oh, and leaving my apartment is definitely a mission, even if I am just going downstairs to the playground. Bentley is starting to take steps so in no time he'll be cruising around without my help, thanks mom.

So he is finally here! I went into the hospital at 12 a.m. on Thursday night/Friday morning to be induced. I was already dialated to almost a 5 when I got there and had been at a 4 for an entire week before that. I got my epidural, and thankfully it worked the entire time this time around, and waited for a little bit. At around 3:30 I was still at a 5 so they broke my water. And about 15 minutes later Gaige was ready to be born. We had to wait for the doctor and my mom, and thankfully Gaige was patient and waited for them.

He looks a lot like Bentley did, but just a little bit different. He has 2 dimples, and his eyes are light blue in the middle (most babies have solid gray eyes). And his hair seems to look the same color as Bentley's was so we may have another red head on our hands! We were so excited to have him that we came home early from the hospital!

Bentley's reaction? He didn't notice Gaige at first and has been very preoccupied with his Grams who he is absolutely obsessed with. He tried to hit him just like he hits everything else. And when he left to go home with his grandparents he kissed me and Matt goodbye and then gave Gaige a cuddle, a head butt. So at least we know he knows that Gaige is a baby. And yesterday he pet Gaige on the head. Now that we are home he is a little bit more interested in him but still only tries to get to him if they are on the bed or couch together.

I'm doing great for not sleeping very much in 3 days and I am sure it will all catch up with me soon. We are so grateful for all of our friends and family and their help. And we are so grateful to have another sweet spirit in our home. Heavenly Father's love is felt so strongly with a new babe in the home. Keep us in your prayers 'cause I'm going to need lots of help!

I can't believe it's been a month since I last posted. I am so sorry! We have had so much going on this past month. There was Easter, Spring Break, Bentley's birthday (3 parties), and lots more fun. Here are some pics.

We had a little easter egg hunt with some people from our ward. Bentley was much more interested in the slide than finding any eggs.

spring break.

For spring break we stayed at my parents' for the whole week. We went out to eat, layed out, saw friends, and relaxed. This picture is at Fisherman's on the San Clemente Pier.

birthday parties.

Bentley had 2 birthday parties the Saturday before his birthday. The first was with my family and friends at my parents'. I don't have very many pics because my batteries died. Don't worry, I made a total of 3 cakes for his birthday, actually 4 counting this little one he is eating. The first cake was a vintage race car, the second had balloons drawn on it, and the third was a monkey (I'll post more pictures later). When my family sang Happy Birthday to Bentley he started to cry, that doesn't say much for our singing.

The second party was at Matt's sister's house. He was spoiled with gifts and had a very crazy and busy and fun day. He stayed up till 10 pm with a very small nap. Whatta champ!

wednesday, april 2nd.

This is his real birthday morning, Wednesday, April 2nd. I took him some balloons when I went to get him in the morning and made him some happy face pancakes for breakfast. We played at the playground, had lunch with Daddy in Westwood, and then barbecued with some friends.

So now I have a one year old and a very large belly. Who knows when this baby is going to make his debut. I am not in any rush to have 2 kids so I am thinking the later the better. But then again, I am so ready to start getting skinny and meet my new kid. I guess you could say I have mixed feelings on the whole subject. I will definitely let you all know when he comes.

11 months old.

Another month has flown by and Bentley is now over 11 months old. I cannot believe we will be having his 1st birthday party soon. I am already trying to decide what kind of cake to make him.

Bentley comes up with something new each day. Since he constantly chews on our coffee table, rocking chair, and trashcan, we find ourselves outside for at least a couple hours every day. We have a playground right outside our door and have met lots of fun neighbors to hang out with there. He mostly just crawls around, chases after bugs, watches the airplanes overhead, sticks leaves and sticks in his mouth, and watches the bigger kids play. He likes to go down the slide on his tummy, swing, teeter totter, and crawl up everything. Mostly I am just working on my tan and removing things from his mouth!

The last couple of days he has enjoyed throwing things. He throws all of his food and sippy cup on the ground and watches where they land. He also throws all of the toys out of a basket and then throws them back in, often entertaining himself for half an hour doing so. He also likes to take all of the dirty clothes out of the laundry basket. Now I understand why people use hampers!

March is a very busy month for us...
My LA friends threw me a baby shower on the 1st.
I threw a friend a baby shower on the 8th.
I'm hosting another shindig on the 12th.
Helping plan a Relief Society Birthday Dinner the 14th.
Matt has finals the week after that.
Easter.
A week at my parents (Matt gets a week off of school).

Then maybe I'll have a baby!

The shower my friends threw me was awesome. I got tons of cute stuff for the new baby and I am so grateful to be surrounded by so many amazing women!

My pregnancy has gone by very quickly up until now! This next month and a half is crawling by. I am so tired of stressing out about how I am going to survive and I am just ready to tackle it already! It's so exhausting just thinking about it. We have our double stroller, crib, and everything else ready...now we just need the baby! If only I could magically catch up on all of my scrapbooking I would definitely be ready.
