thanksgivingness.

We spent our Thanksgiving this year with some of our LA friends and a couple of fried turkeys. The Terrys, Steffys, and Fellers came over to our house for dinner.

Doug brought over his fryer and cooked the turkeys outside. It involved a whole lot of oil, two 15 pound turkeys, lots of butter marinade, and even a little fire.

Matt supervised the whole ordeal and they played with the boys while I took care of the last details before everyone else arrived. They also had some Hot Crab Dip and Brunsweiger Dip while they worked hard slaving over the turkeys. As I was setting the table and getting everything ready I thought of all of the pros to frying a turkey and here they are:

1. The man has to cook the turkey instead of the woman.

2. It is enjoyable, much like bbqing, for men and they feel a sense of pride.

3. You fry the turkey outside so there is more room in your oven to cook your other dishes.

4. There is more room in the kitchen because the man is outside fying the turkey and taking care of the kids at the same time!

So you see, I love this whole turkey frying thing. Plus the turkey tastes way better and is much jucier when you fry it.

We unbelievably fit 9 adults around our table. Me, Matt, Jen and David Feller, Mark and Jenn Terry, Kara and Doug Steffy, and Kara's sister Jenny. The kids had their own little table, but the only one who sat and ate his food was Davis. Bentley just kept walking around and eating off of Evelyn and Davis' plates! Gaige sat in his exersaucer while the kids played with the toys on it. Alexis sat in the high chair, and babies Kate and Devin slept most of the time. So there were 16 of us including all of the kids (almost as many kids as adults!).

We had a great time and it was fun to have everybody over to our home. The food was amazing too. It really was a memorable Thanksgiving. We are so lucky to have great friends to share this part of our lives with.

And here is a cute nakey picture of Gaige to make you smile! I am most definitely thankful for him, his brother, his daddy, and all of our families.

Mmmm.... I could go for a little fried turkey right about now... even though I've never tried it.

I loved having Thanksgiving with friends- enjoy it! And I am more impressed that you fit that many people at your table!

What a great party for Thanksgiving! I've heard about frying the turkey & loved all the reasons you listed why it works out! Your boys are adorable, as usual!

You have such a beautiful family! I love the family pictures, Tanner points at the one in our house and tries to say Bentley and Gaige. It is pretty cute (he still cannot say certain sounds). Your letter was well written and so fun to read. I hope things have calmed down after the prop 8 craziness. We had protesters outside our chapel (next to the temple) one day. I don't know how I would have survived weeks of all that.

You guys have such a beautiful family. And look how skinny you are girl! I wish I were that skinny again. Maybe someday if I get the courage up to start exercising again and lose all this baby weight. I hope you guys have a great Christmas and I will call you back. I promise.
