so cute that i can't stand it.

This week has been lots of fun. We walked around the harbor, went to Taco Tuesday, hot tubbed and bbq'd it up, saw Evan Almighty and hung out with old friends.
Bentley put on his trunks and we took a dip in the hot tub on Saturday. He just chilled with the attitude of, "this aint no big thang." It was the longest bath he has taken yet!
Cameron and Amy Olthuis drove up from far far away to spend the day with us. We bbq'd and played in the hot tub with them and their two dreamy daughters Adalyn and CeCe. It was fun to see them and we're glad they could come live it up at the Power Resort with us!
Amy and I reminisced about hanging eggs and all the other crazy stuff we did in P-town back in the day. Our primitive friendship consisted of us sitting at each other's apartments and talking about how hot our boyfriends were. And look at us 6 years later...sitting around talking about our hot husbands and our adorable kids! I love ya, Amy! Don't be fooled by Cam's mustache...he's a looker!

happy fathers' day.

For Matt's first Fathers' Day we went to Stake Conference and then were invited over to my brother's for lunch. Then we spent the evening at home doing pilates and watching movies!

As you can see, Bentley is still the most smiley baby ever. He smiles at everyone and has earned the new nickname "Prozac Baby" by my sister-in-law Leslie. He also smiles at everything...the wall when we change his diaper, the chandalier above the kitchen table, and the ceiling! He even talks to the chandalier (pictured below). We are so used to seeing him smile all of the time that when he doesn't we feel left out! He laughed for the first time on Fathers' Day. Matt and Alexa were talking to him and making him smile and coo and when Alexa laughed at him he laughed right back at her! Sooo cute! They say that their personality starts to show at 3 months and he is almost there and his smiley personality is shining brightly.

I asked Matt why we have such a smiley baby and he told me that when he was little the ladies at the YMCA called him smiley because of his permasmile! And Bentley smiles just like his daddy with his smiley eyes that disappear.

lock ALL your doors and windows.

I've just been pondering a lot about how we are tempted and drawn away from our Savior. Been there done that...and I see loved ones around me still battling. Most of us can stand strong and lock particular windows or doors to keep Satan out, but it always seems that we keep one door cracked open just enough to let him back in over and over again. For some of us it is our pride For others it's continually comparing yourself to those around you or even your old self. And some still battle the fight against addictions, whatever it might be. So make sure that ALL your doors and windows are shut and deadbolted!

About 3 years ago Matt and I left our basement door unlocked...I woke up at 4:45 am to see some strange guy walk into our bedroom and try to get into our bed. Matt was sleeping and I wasn't sure if I was awake or having a nightmare. I attempted to wake up my sound asleep hubby and after a few moments was successful. When Matt finally figured out what I was telling him he leaned down next to the bed and grabbed the shadow. The guy got up and started walking to the door. I jumped out of bed and ran to the door to close it before he got there. After slamming the door shut I rushed the guy and he landed on his butt in the closet. I turned on the light and jumped back in bed and let Matt pick him up out of the closet. He was a skinny drunk kid who was scared to death! He had no clue what was going on... All of our other doors and windows were locked, but the one time we left one of our doors unlocked we met an unexpected stranger.


Satan is an unexpected stranger that gets us little by little and knows us just enough to slowly coerse us through rationalization and justification. Don't give up all the Lord has blessed you with and given you (exaltation-eternal life with Him and your precious family) just because you forgot to lock your door. He knows how to lead you away from the true gospel. He knows how to slowly diminish your testimony. I know...I've been there and done that. Keep yourself and your families (those beautiful children) safe and lock ALL your doors and windows!

sleep theif.

I love Bentley so much! He'd be perfect if he could just sleep through the night! I am not one of those people that can function in daily life with only 6 or 7 hours of sleep. To be a fully functional and complete Jaime I have to have about 10 hours of sleep! At my last job I didn't have to start working until 10 am and it was perfect because I have never been a morning person. Due to my sleep deprivation, I have noticed that I am now acting a little more dorky than before. I have estimated that I have lost about 20 percent of my coolness already! Maybe this just comes with motherhood and the loss of your most favorite truck which leads you to feel much older than you should. I am now starting to realize that I am no longer 17. Not only will I not have as much energy as I did then, I will not be as skinny either! So here is to getting older, less cool, and very tired! The purchase of a Juicy diaper bag has kept my hopes up for keeping my coolness. One of the mia maids at church told her mom that I was the coolest mom ever (because of my bag). The whole reason I got the bag was so that no matter what I was wearing as long as I had my bag and a cute pair of shoes on I would still look hot! It seems that my plan is working!

Despite the realizations that I have come to I wake up every morning, around 10 am, and feel so lucky to have the cutest baby ever! He smiles all day long and has started cooing. I LOVE HIM! I'll just have to count on him to pick up the cool points that I have lost.
