the true meaning of service.

So our happy helping friends and family made the trek up to LA with us to move all of our stuff into our new apartment. Joselyn & Ryan Gunderson, Kevin Galbasini, and my parents helped us. The guys loaded all of our stuff into a 24 foot UHaul and the girls headed over to the apartment to clean. On the way to the apartment Matt and Kevin lost my dad and Ryan who drove around until they spotted us. While they began unloading the UHaul from the street (you get a $300 ticket if you take the UHaul into the parking lot) a guy greeted Matt and asked him if he was LDS. He later told Matt that only a mormon would wear an undershirt in 100 degree weather. Within 15 minutes 5 guys from the ward showed up to help us move our stuff in. We hadn't called anyone, no one knew us or even knew we were coming. But these guys went out of their way to help us. They probably saved us about 5 hours! Not to mention Matt, Kevin, Ryan and my dad's muscles.

I was skeptical about moving up to LA. Honestly, I have been feeling uneasy about it because I don't know the area, and I am SOOO sick of meeting new people and making new friends. My skepticism has been relieved! We also met some of our neighbors and they are super nice. So it is safe to say that nice people live in LA too. I guess I will retract my newly constructed vow of introversion (it's a word) and make room in my life for some more friends.

Ryan and Kevin said that they now have a great testimonial to give next time they have to make an announcement about helping people move in their wards. It will probably be embellished to include "and they had 12 kids, 900 pounds of wheat (they moved my 300 pounds), and it was on the 1oth floor (we are on the 2nd)!"

Think about the last time you served some one...even if it's just with a smile!

bentley bug.

Matt thinks that Bentley looks like Larry the Cable Guy (the comedian) in this outfit. He is pretty charming in his white trash gear.

rub a dub dub bentley bug in the tub.
